Five Account Habits That Make Crypto Withdrawals Safer

Small security routines can reduce the risk of account takeovers and mistaken transfers. Build protection into every login and withdrawal.

Exchange security is not a one-time setup. Strong account protection comes from repeatable habits: keeping login credentials private, checking account activity, and taking extra care before approving a withdrawal. These steps cannot eliminate every risk, but they can make common attacks and avoidable mistakes harder.

1. Use a unique password and a password manager

Create a long, unique password for your exchange account. Reusing passwords lets a breach on another service put your exchange login at risk. A reputable password manager can generate and store strong passwords, so you do not have to memorize or reuse them.

Never share your password, verification codes, or recovery details with anyone claiming to be support. Yubbit and other legitimate services will not need your one-time code to troubleshoot an account.

2. Turn on strong multi-factor authentication

Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA), preferably with an authenticator app or a hardware security key if the exchange supports it. SMS codes may offer some protection, but they can be vulnerable to SIM-swapping and phone-number takeover. Store backup codes somewhere secure and separate from your phone.

3. Protect the email and device linked to your account

Your email account may be used to reset your exchange password, so secure it with a unique password and MFA as well. Keep your phone and computer updated, use a screen lock, and avoid logging in on shared or public devices. Be cautious with links in emails and messages; open the exchange through its official app or a saved address instead.

4. Review account activity and withdrawal settings

Check login history, active sessions, API keys, and security notifications regularly. Remove devices and keys you no longer recognize or use. Enable withdrawal allowlists and withdrawal delays where available, and use address protections to limit transfers to destinations you have verified in advance.

5. Verify every withdrawal before confirming

Before sending funds, confirm the destination address, network, and asset. Crypto transfers are generally irreversible, and a correct address on the wrong network can still result in lost funds. Copying an address is not enough: malware can replace clipboard contents, so compare the address shown in your exchange with the trusted destination, including its beginning and ending characters.

For a new destination, consider a small test transfer first, while accounting for network fees and minimum withdrawal rules. Do not rush because of a message or call pressuring you to move funds. If a withdrawal request or security alert seems unfamiliar, use the exchange’s official support channel to secure the account before taking further action.

Make security a routine

Strong passwords, MFA, careful device habits, and deliberate withdrawal checks work best together. Review your settings periodically and after changing phones or email accounts. A few minutes of preparation can help protect both access to your exchange account and the funds you intend to withdraw.
